Virtual Dementia Tour ® (VDT)

According to the 2017 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures Report, close to 50% of all caregivers who provide help to older adults do so for someone with Alzheimer's or another dementia. So how can we better understand the challenges those with dementia face.  The Virtual Dementia Tour ® provides a unique view into the world of dementia. This interactive evidence based program allows participants to walk in the shoes of those with dementia.   With dementia affecting everyone it is encouraged that families, businesses, organizations, and communities experience the VDT to develop better skills for a better quality of life.

Shields of Care is proud to conduct the Virtual Dementia Tour for the Rio Grande Valley. For more information contact our office to see how you can experience the Virtual Dementia Tour ® or click on the Second Wind Dreams link to learn more.

"The Virtual Dementia Tour® is a scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and instruction. The VDT® was created by P.K. Beville, PhD, an award-wining geriatric psychologist, dementia expert, and founder of Second Wind Dreams, Inc. Proceeds from the sale of Virtual Dementia Tour support the work of Second Wind Dreams®, an internationally-known nonprofit organization recognized as the first in the nation committed to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams for elders and the offering of innovative educational opportunities to caregivers, families and communities. For more information about Second Wind Dreams and the Virtual Dementia Tour, please call the office at 678-624-0500 or visit online at www.secondwind.org."
